Description

Cement Fibre Boards consist of cement and reinforced fibres that allows the boards to be used in numerous building applications, primarily for overboarding walls and floors prior to tiling. The high durability of the boards allows them to easily reinforce the substrate base by preventing problems caused through warping and movement.

Cement Fibre Boards provide better stability than timber and plasterboard panel alternatives and are suitable for both interior and exterior use.

Key Benefits:

- Water Resistant

- Resistant to Rot and Moisture

- Non-Combustible

- High Impact Resistance

- High Strength for Sustaining Heavy Loads

- Interior and Exterior Use

- Suitable for Walls, Floors, Furred Ceiling, Insulation Materials, Sound Absorbing Walls

  and Suspended Ceilings

Built for Load-Bearing Strength & Moisture Resistance

Unlike plywood which warps, or plasterboard which crumbles when wet, our Cement Fibre Boards are engineered for total stability. Reinforced with fibre mesh and cement, they provide an immovable, non-combustible base for tiling. Whether you are overboarding a bouncing floor with the 6mm or creating a rock-solid shower wall with the 12mm, these boards guarantee your tiles won't crack.

Words From Our Valued Clients

4.8/5

Value for money

Cheaper than the big brand 'backer boards' but exactly the same quality. I'll be buying pallets of this from now on.

Thompson Construction

Great acoustic properties

Used the 12mm on a party wall to dampen sound. Definitely made a difference to the noise transfer from next door.

Sarah K.

Flat and level

Every board in the pallet was perfectly flat. Makes tiling so much faster when you don't have to fight against warped sheets.

J. Reynolds

Used externally

Clad the outside of a garden room with these before rendering. They take the weather perfectly and provide a solid key for the render.

Good impact resistance

Accidentally bashed a corner with a hammer while fitting, and it didn't even chip. Tough stuff.

B. Thomas

Better than plasterboard

For a shower enclosure, this is a no-brainer. It doesn't turn to mush if water gets behind the tiles. Essential for longevity.

Ian Wright

Holds heavy stone

I tiled a feature wall with heavy slate split-face tiles. Plasterboard wouldn't have held the weight, but the 12mm cement board didn't budge.

Fire safety peace of mind

Knowing these are non-combustible makes a big difference. I used them behind a log burner installation for heat protection.

Cuts cleanly

I used a score-and-snap knife for the 6mm and a grinder for the 12mm. Both cut really clean edges. Very easy to work with.

H. Douglas

Easy to handle size

The 1200x800 size is brilliant. I can fit them in the back of my estate car, and they are much easier to carry up stairs than full 2.4m sheets.

Steve P.

6mm is great for floors

Used the 6mm boards to overboard my hallway floorboards. They stiffened up the floor massively. No bounce left, so I know my grout won't crack.

Redfern Renovations

Best board for wet rooms

I never use ply in bathrooms anymore. These boards are solid, don't rot, and hold heavy porcelain tiles without bowing. The 12mm is perfect for stud walls.

Frequently Asked Questions

6mm (CBB6): Designed primarily for overboarding floors. It adds rigidity to timber floorboards without raising the floor level too much.

12mm (CBB12): Designed for walls. It has the structural strength to replace plasterboard on stud work and can support much heavier tile weights (up to 60-100kg/m² depending on fixing method).

It is Water Resistant and Resistant to Rot. It will not swell, degrade, or lose strength if it gets wet (unlike plywood). However, for a fully waterproof tanked wet room, we still recommend applying Brit AquaSeal over the joints or the whole board.

For the 6mm board, you can typically use a carbide "score and snap" knife (similar to cutting drywall but harder). For the 12mm board, we recommend using a grinder with a diamond blade or a circular saw with a fibre-cement blade for a clean cut. Always wear a dust mask!

Yes. They are suitable for Interior and Exterior Use. They are freeze/thaw resistant, making them excellent as a backing board for external render or cladding systems.

Most cement boards have a smooth side and a textured/rough side. Generally, you should apply the tile adhesive to the rough/textured side to ensure the best mechanical grip (key) for the adhesive.

Yes. Cement fibre boards are Non-Combustible. This makes them an excellent choice for lining fireplaces, behind boilers, or in commercial buildings where fire regulations are strict.
