This is a CSA-based (Calcium Sulphate Aluminate) adhesive, chemically engineered to bond directly to gypsum-based substrates. We have formulated this to eliminate the risk of reaction between cement and gypsum, removing the need for time-consuming sealing and priming steps.

Words From Our Valued Clients

4.8/5

Won't stain natural stone

Being white, it didn't stain my natural stone tiles. Easy to clean off the face of the tile before it set.

E. Watson

Designed for anhydrite

If you are working on anhydrite, don't risk standard cement. Use this. It's designed for the job and eliminates the chemical reaction risk.

Advanced Screeding Co.

Hard in 3 hours

Does exactly what it says. Hard in 3 hours. Let me finish the floor and grout it in one shift.

Nathan G.

Works on fresh skim

Tiled a bathroom where the walls were new skim. Just wiped the dust off and went straight on with this. Tiles are solid.

Chloe F.

Eliminates failure points

We've had failures in the past where the primer breached on anhydrite floors. Using BritGyp removes that failure point entirely. Highly recommend.

Tiling Innovations

Smooth and easy to spread

Mixes up really smooth. Doesn't feel gritty like some standard cement adhesives. Spreads like butter.

L. Gallagher

Works with UFH anhydrite floors

I was tiling over a UFH anhydrite floor and was worried about trapped moisture. Because this is gypsum-based, it works harmoniously with the screed. Very happy.

Sam D.

Non-slip property excellent

Used it for large 600x600 porcelain tiles on a wall. The non-slip property is excellent; they didn't budge an inch.

R. Patel

Generous pot life

For a rapid set, the 1-hour pot life is generous. You don't feel like you're racing against the bucket, but it still sets hard enough to grout after lunch.

Ben J.

Significant material cost savings

We usually spend a lot on acrylic primers for calcium sulphate screeds. Switching to a compatible adhesive like this cut our material costs significantly.

Gypsum Kings Ltd

Peace of mind with fresh plaster

I always worry about cement adhesive reacting with fresh plaster. This BritGyp stuff bonds perfectly and gives me peace of mind. White colour is great for light grout too.

H. Thompson

Most new apartments have anhydrite screeds now

Most new apartments have anhydrite screeds now. Being able to tile directly onto them without sanding and sealing with expensive primers saved me two days on the job.

Your Questions, Answered

Correct. Because BritGyp S1 is a CSA-based adhesive (chemically similar to the screed itself), it does not react with gypsum. This allows you to fix tiles directly to the screed or plaster without a preventative barrier primer, saving you time and money.

No. This is a specialist product designed strictly for Anhydrite Screeds and Plaster Based Surfaces. For standard concrete or sand/cement screeds, you should use our BritFlex range.

BritGyp S1 is suitable for domestic bathrooms but must not be used on areas subject to frequent wetting (like wet room floors or swimming pools). It is for Interior Use Only.

It is a Rapid Setting adhesive. It has a pot life of 1 hour (giving you good working time) but sets hard enough to allow grouting after just 3 hours.

Yes. It is fully compatible with both matted and piped underfloor heating systems. Its S1 Flexibility allows it to cope with the thermal expansion of the heated screed.

A 20kg bag will cover approximately 5-6 sq.m at a 3mm bed depth. This is slightly better coverage than some standard cement-based adhesives due to the lighter density of the gypsum base.
