The All-in-One Solution for Underfloor Heating, Decoupling & Waterproofing
Customize Your Order
Description
Brit Heat Mat is a decoupling polypropylene membrane with a cut-back stud structure and an anchoring fleece laminated to the underside. It has rounded square shaped reliefs designed to secure electric heating cables up to 4.5mm thickness into place within its pre-grooved channels without the use of clips or fasteners. It is a quick installation solution designed to be installed directly beneath tile, porcelain, stone, slate, marble etc.
Installation:
Apply a 4mm bed of BritFlex S1 flexible tile adhesive to the substrate. Ensure the matting is anchored fleeced side down and is fully embedded into the tile adhesive to ensure a mechanical bond of the fabric in the adhesive. Allow the adhesive to cure before over laying with tile coverings.
Key Benefits:
- Decoupling Crack Isolation
- Vapour Management
- Waterproofing
- Flexible Heating Zone Selection
- Cost and Time Saving Installation
- Support Load Distribution
Built for Fast Installation & Cable Protection
This advanced polypropylene membrane features a unique "cut-back stud" structure designed to hold electric heating cables (up to 4.5mm) securely in place without the need for clips or tape. We have engineered it with an anchoring fleece underside to provide mechanical bonding, decoupling your tiles from the substrate to prevent cracking caused by lateral movement.

Frequently Asked Questions
The mat is designed to secure electric heating cables up to 4.5mm thickness. This covers the vast majority of standard loose-wire underfloor heating systems on the UK market.
The polypropylene material itself is waterproof. If you seal the joints between the mats with Brit Waterproofing Tape, the entire floor becomes a waterproof tanked surface, ideal for wet rooms.
Yes. Once the heating cable is installed, you fill the studs with tile adhesive (to ensure Load Distribution) and lay your tiles directly on top in the same bed.
Floors (especially concrete and timber) move, expand, and contract. Tiles are rigid. If you stick tiles directly to a moving floor, they crack. This mat separates ("decouples") the two layers, allowing the floor to move independently beneath the mat while the tiles stay safe on top.
You must use a Flexible S1 Tile Adhesive (like BritFlex S1). Apply a 4mm bed to the substrate using a notched trowel, then press the mat fleece side down into the adhesive to ensure a strong mechanical bond.
The mat features rounded square shaped reliefs (studs). You simply press the heating cable into the pre-grooved channels between these studs. No clips, tape, or glue are required—the tension of the mat holds the wire in place.
