Your Questions, Answered
Yes. It is recommended for heated and timber floors. It helps to neutralize the lateral movement caused by the heating system expanding and contracting the subfloor.
You should use a 4mm Square Notched Trowel. This provides the perfect amount of adhesive ribs to grip the fleece underside without creating excess mess or raising the height unnecessarily.
Absolutely. The system allows for immediate tiling. There is no curing time required for the mat itself; once it's stuck down, you can start laying tiles.
Yes. Due to its flat, low-profile design, it reduces adhesive consumption significantly compared to deep-cavity mats. You only need enough adhesive to bond the fleece, not to fill deep studs.
Yes. It is engineered to be Lightweight, making it exceptionally easy to transport and handle, especially for single contractors working alone.
The main difference is the profile and weight. Brit-Mat is a low-profile, lightweight (6kg) membrane designed for standard uncoupling. The orange Crack Matting is a deeper, more rigid 3D cavity mat designed for more problematic substrates. Brit-Mat is better for adhesive saving and speed on standard floors.
