Description

BritFibre Mesh is an alkali-resistant fibre glass mesh designed for reinforcing protective waterproofing layers, decoupling membranes, thermal insulation systems, basecoat plaster and for the reinforcement of render, screeds, cements and concrete. Once a compound layer has been installed and hardened, BritFibre Mesh helps to reinforce the layer to protect against the formation of cracks due to movement in the substrate or the finished surface. BritFibre Mesh also helps improve the system’s resistance to temperature variations and abrasion.

Application:

BritFibre Mesh must be completely embedded in the compound layer to be reinforced. Apply an even layer of the product and while the product is still fresh, lay BritFibre Mesh on the surface and press it gently with the trowel so that it is embedded in the compound layer. Wait for the layer to dry and, if required, apply a second layer of the product.

Each piece of BritFibre Mesh should be overlapped by at least 5cm.

Key Benefits:
- Excellent Strength & Stability
- Resistant to Alkalis
- Stabalises to Prevent Cracking
- Corrosion Resistant

- High Tear Resistance
- Very Lightweight and Easy to Cut

Built for Structural Integrity & Crack Prevention

Cracks in render or screed are costly to fix. BritFibre Mesh is an alkali-resistant fiberglass engineered to reinforce basecoats, waterproofing layers, and thermal insulation systems. By embedding this mesh into the wet compound, you create a composite layer that resists movement, temperature variations, and abrasion, ensuring your finish stays flawless.

Words From Our Valued Clients

4.8/5

Essential for rendering jobs

We use this on every rendering job now. It stops hairline cracks appearing when the building moves slightly. The 50m roll goes a long way.

David P. (Plastering Services)

Perfect for thin screeds

I had a thin screed to put down over underfloor heating. Laying this mesh into it gave it the strength it needed without adding height.

Martin O.

Reinforces wet room corners

Used this to reinforce the corners and floor joints in a wet room before applying the tanking paint. It beds in easily and makes the corner bomb-proof.

AquaShield Bathrooms

Cuts cleanly and holds together

Cheap mesh falls apart when you cut it. This BritFibre stuff holds together really well. Easy to cut with a sharp knife or scissors.

S. Reynolds

Alkali resistant for EWI

Used it for an External Wall Insulation project. The alkali resistance is key because standard mesh would just rot away inside the cement basecoat.

GreenBuild Solutions

Incredibly tough and durable

Don't let the weight fool you; it's incredibly tough. You can't tear it by hand, which is exactly what you want for crack prevention.

Tom H.

Trowels in smoothly

Trowels in nicely. Doesn't float to the surface or bubble up like some meshes do. Sits flat in the basecoat.

L. Davies

Better value than big brands

Cheaper than the big brand render meshes but does exactly the same job. Will definitely buy the BFM50 roll again.

Renovate Right Ltd

Solves recurring crack problems

I had a wall that kept cracking along a joint. Hacked off the plaster, embedded this mesh in the new filler, and the crack hasn't come back.

Jenny K.

Adds tensile strength to repairs

Reinforced a patch repair on a concrete step. The mesh gives it that extra tensile strength so the patch doesn't flake off.

B. Wilson

Wraps around corners easily

It wraps around corners and detailed shapes easily. Essential for complex rendering jobs around windows.

Precision Plastering

Won't rust or bleed through

Unlike metal mesh, this won't rust and bleed through the render. Much safer for long-term finishes.

Your Questions, Answered

Cement, screed, and render are highly alkaline. Standard fiberglass would break down and rot when in contact with them. BritFibre Mesh is coated to be Alkali Resistant, ensuring it retains its strength inside the mortar for the lifetime of the building.

It must be completely embedded in the compound. Apply an even layer of your render/screed/waterproofing. While it is still wet/fresh, lay the BritFibre Mesh on top. Press it gently with the trowel so it sits inside the layer (not just on top). Smooth over or apply a second coat if required.

Yes. It is designed for reinforcing protective waterproofing layers and decoupling membranes. It provides extra tensile strength to liquid tanking systems, preventing the waterproof skin from splitting under stress.

When joining two pieces of mesh, ensure they overlap by at least 5cm. This continuity is vital to stop cracks forming at the join.

It is suitable for reinforcing render, screeds, cements, concrete, basecoat plaster, and thermal insulation systems. It is a versatile multi-purpose reinforcement tool.

Yes. It is Very Lightweight and Easy to Cut using standard site scissors or a sharp utility knife, making installation quick and hassle-free.
